Near the second largest village of Skopelos, επιπλα, called Glossa, there is a very important destination, the chapel of St. John at the Kastri.
Watching this quaint chapel, one notes with surprise that it is built on the top of a rock hundred meters above the sea.
The peculiar position of the chapel was defined according to the urban legend. The story goes like this, a local resident, fisherman by profession, was returning one evening to the harbor when he noticed a light coming from this rock. He didn’t pay much of attention and he continued his course back to the harbor.. The next day when the fisherman was passing buy from the same point he observed that the light appeared again at the top of the rock, but he continued for once more his course back to the harbor. Eventually a woman appeared one night in his sleep and revealed to him that at the top of the cliff there was hidden a holly picture.  The woman also told him to share this dream with all the residence and all together to search for the holly picture.  Feeling perplexed when he woke up, the fisherman decided to tell the others and to climb the rock to see if indeed there is a picture at the top as the strange woman clearly implied in his sleep.
Reaching the top of the rock, soon, the fisherman was surprised when he discovered the image of St. John the Baptist. Together with other local residents took the picture from the rock and brought it to a church in the nearby area. But the next day when they opened the church, the picture was no longer there, it had returned again to the rock where the inhabitants built in the honour of the saint this chapel.
This point of the area is so beautiful and παιδικα επιπλα picturesque, that many scenes from the movie, “mama mia” were shot on this rock.
